An Amazing Date Night at Fighting Fish - our new favorite!

This was our favorite date night yet! Our recent date nights have been a little disappointing, with a lot of our expectations not being met at these seriously hyped up restaurants. We've been on the hunt for a new sushi restaurant for a while, and after hearing about Fighting Fish enough times we decided it was time to give it a try. We were hoping for a really great restaurant this time after a string of bad ones, and they did not disappoint!

Fighting Fish is located on Arthur Ashe Boulevard, so it makes it a great spot to hit before a movie at Bowtie Cinemas. We headed inside and were immediately greeted and led to a small table in the back.

For starters, we ordered the Shrimp Ceviche and the Furikake Fries. Both were unexpectedly very tasty and somewhat addicting. (Alex actually ordered a second helping of fries because they were that good!) The shrimp ceviche had a good amount of tangy lime juice on it, and the salty chips paired perfectly with it. The fries had a slight seasoning to them, but the dipping sauce really made these even better.

When it was time to order sushi, we had a hard time deciding since there were so many options that sounded good. I opted for the Tiger Roll with no tobiko, and Alex chose the Cowboy Roll. We also ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll to share (and also just in case Alex didn't like his roll).

Cowboy Roll

Holy flavor! Everything in this roll tasted so good, and nothing overpowered the other. It was just the right amount of spicy and with a little dab of eel sauce and soy sauce, it was perfect.

Shrimp Tempura

Nothing basic here! This was very flavorful, the tempura was just the right amount of crunchy, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. I could easily get this roll on its own and it would be great!

Tiger Roll

Overall, we were very shocked to have enjoyed this so much. To give you a true picture of how much we liked it, Alex has been asking to go back nearly every day since (and he still maintains he doesn't like sushi)! We plan to bring friends and family back with us next time to try even more food, but I can't help but think I'll probably get these again. We are definitely happy to have a more enjoyable experience on our date night this time around!
